October 26th – October 30th

A Note From Ms. Sickler

Autumn is in full glory with all of the trees changing colors, cool crisp air, yummy apple cider at the orchards, and the return of football (Go Blue!).  There are many autumn celebrations, including Halloween, that we need to approach different this year.  Due to COVID safety measures, as well as our commitment to being more inclusive to all of our families, we will not be hosting costume parties at school.  Further, we are keenly aware of the limited time we have for direct instruction in the hybrid model.  We are committed to maximizing the time we have to focus on academics and minimize the negative impact of reduced instructional time.

Our teachers are skilled at providing fun, instructional activities that allow for socializing and enriching the curriculum with seasonal themes.  They will continue to make learning fun in ways that support their academic curriculum.  Please note the following:

  • Food/treats may not be brought in or distributed to others at school
  • Games that require close contact may not be played
  • To limit the risk of exposure in our school buildings, guests and visitors are not permitted
  • We will not be parading through the school

Harvest will be hosting a”Fun Friday” this week!  Look for a variety of optional fun fall activities in SeeSaw Friday morning!

We are hosting a Saline Elementary Community Forum this Thursday to help answer any questions you have prior to making a decision about your child’s 2nd Trimester Learning Model.  A survey asking you to make a decision for 2nd trimester will be sent out on Thursday, November 5th.

If you are unable to join, but have questions, feel free to reach out!

  • From Superintendent Graden’s 10/21 Community Message: For students in grades Y5-5th, if data begins to trend in the appropriate direction early next week, our intent is to begin 4 day a week in-person (Monday through Thursday) instruction on Wednesday, November 4th. A confirmation of this decision will be communicated with families and staff next week.  Read the entire message HERE.
  • A survey for choosing the 2nd-trimester instructional model (in-person or remote) will be going out on November 5 and closing on November 9th.
    • Note: This email is being sent out to all families in our Powerschool system. The survey, however, will only be sent to the primary contact. If the email address on file is not the correct primary contact or you have any questions about which email we have on file, please contact Alyssa Dawson at dawsona@salineschools.org with your corrections or concerns. Please have your responses in by Friday, October 30th.
