Week of October 28th – November 1st

A Note from Ms. Sickler

Please read the following letter from Original Works Coordinator, Amanda Ledy.

Dear Harvest Families,

As parent coordinator, I’m excited for another great year of our Original Works fundraiser! This art-based program allows you to order customized products displaying your child’s art, all while making money for our school! The company offers everything from t-shirts to note cards and in between.

Your child created artwork, which has been uploaded to an online gallery for our school. For security purposes, only families of Harvest can view the artwork and student names are withheld. A custom letter is being sent home with each student. Please keep and reference the codes and instructions on your letter. These student codes are unique to each child and grant access to the gallery and allow you to place your order. Orders must be placed by November 6, 2019!

Profits for this program go directly to your child’s teacher and the more participation we have the higher the profit. The teachers have appreciated the funds they have received from this fundraiser, purchasing furniture, books and needed classroom supplies.

All orders are made online and will be shipped to the school directly. Orders can be sent home with students or picked up by parents before winter break. At that time, your child’s original artwork from the gallery will also be sent home.

Please email me with any questions or comments regarding this program.  Have fun seeing your artist’s work and ordering some keepsakes!

Did You Know?

Did you know that Thursday is our first Early Release Day?

What is the difference between an Early Release Day and a typical Half Day?

  • Early Release Days occur 5 times a year.
  • On Early Release Days, students dismiss approximately 2.5 hours before the normal end of the school day (Half Days dismiss approximately 3.5 hours before the normal end of the school day).
  • On Early Release Days, students eat lunch at the school (on typical half days they do not).
  • On Early Release Days, low-cost childcare services are provided for K-8 students for the families that would like this service. However, you needed to sign-up for this service by the end of September.
  • On Early Release Days, teachers have Professional Development in the afternoon to work on improving the teaching and learning for all students.

Week of October 21st – October 25th

Did you know that it is National School Bus Safety Week?  We are so lucky to have so many amazing bus drivers who are the very first people to greet many of our students each morning.  Make sure to thank your bus drivers this week!

Week of October 14th-October 18th

A Note from Ms. Sickler

We have a short week this week with no school on Friday for our mid-fall break.  I hope families are able to enjoy spending time together during the long weekend!

I am hoping families who are at Harvest for pick-up after school can help ensure that our Harvest Hornets stay safe.  We ask that students refrain from climbing between the pillars, climbing the trees, or climbing the Harvest sign close to Campus Parkway.  Thank you in advance for talking to your child about how to stay safe after school.

Week of October 7th – October 11th

A Note from Ms. Sickler

  • Fall is upon us, and so is October. Now is the time we fall between chilly mornings and warm afternoons.  Please think about adding warmer clothes to your child’s extra set of clothes bag in lockers and make sure your child has layers so they are comfortable outside at recess.

  • Saline Area Schools has determined the need to review and update the district’s existing strategic framework.  Read more about this important role and how to apply in Mr. Graden’s blog.

Did You Know?

Did you know that Harvest has the STAR program?  Third-grade students who participate in STAR meet once a week during their lunchtime.  During STAR lunches, students work with some of our Special Education staff members to learn about ways to communicate and become friends with ALL students at Harvest.  Increased awareness and empathy are two of the many outcomes of the STAR program.
